Earth Hour 2010
Earth Hour 2010
Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate change. A year later, it became the global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating.
In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.
Today is Saturday, March 27,2010 and specifically the Third Earth Hour. Most of the countries from all over the world are going to participate in this movement conducted by WWF, one of the world's largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the Earth's natural environment and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.
Earth Hour 2010 insists us to switch off the lights today for one hour [from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM] to save energy. We should be in dark for one hour to see a bright future. It is a duty of today's citizen to make the world more healthy and powerful for the well-being of our sons and daughters.
It’s all about giving people a voice on the future of our planet and working together to create a sustainable low carbon future for our planet. So now's the time to take a stand and give world leaders the mandate they need to make the right climate deal.
I'm switching off the lights for Earth Hour 2010. Join the movement too at http://www.earthhour.org

Wanted: Friend Who Can Tell It Like It Is
Despite a group of wonderful, caring people in my life, I don't have that friend. You know the one I'm talking about: the friend who is bold (and considerate) enough to tell you when your new outfit really don't match your personality. That friend is the one who will answer honestly when you ask "does this make me look fat." That friend doesn't just passively offer you a kind of stuff, maybe an advice, materials which you like the most, helping hand but tells you when you really need that in your life.
Somehow, I'm not friends with anyone like that right now. And I need to be.
Please don't mistake me--I'm not talking about a "fr-enemy," someone who says things with the secret intent of undermining your self confidence. I'm talking about a person who truly loves you and has your best interests at heart. He/She is someone who would prefer to be undisguisedly honest with you and protect you from yourself rather than letting the world laugh at you. It takes a rare mixture of integrity, love, respect and confidence to make that kind of friend, but if you find one, hold on! They're a rare and invaluable blessing.
I think the last time I had a friend of that kind was when I worked with a lady in my first office. She doesn't hide anything in her heart. She tells it just like that in front of everyone. I remember her telling me when my hair was sticking up funny or teasing me when I was wearing a completely out-of-fashion and weird outfit or even pointing out when my zip was undone on my pant. It was usually slightly embarrassing to hear, but I was always grateful! Better to be told out loud by someone who really likes you than secretly mocked by someone who doesn't. When she moved out of the office, I slowly lost contact with her. Now I really only "see" her through memories, and I really miss her. I don't think I ever truly understood what a valuable friend she was.
So I'm now accepting applications for a new, blunt friend. Interested applicants must have experience in extreme honesty, but should be kind in its delivery. Requirements include a willingness to point out tar in my teeth/dust in my eyes, tell me when my pant is unzipped, and stop me if I ever consider wearing "stretchy pants". The position offers no salary, but includes a generous benefit package and my undying devotion.

Longing for a vacation
I think I had to go for a vacation right now since I've been working for about 4 months without any casual or medical leave. So its necessary for me to take a holiday for least 3-4 days. There is a temple festival in Rasipuram, Namakkal Dt.,Tamilnadu. My roommate Prakash belongs to this village and I'm planning to go with him. I am very sick of sighting city girls lately and I believe it'll be refreshing if I go n check some beautiful village girls...
I feel its a good idea...

Sick of doing the same job daily
Hi everyone...
Aren't you tired of doing the same job daily...?
I got too frustrated nowadays to getup in the evening (I'm working in the call centre now) and to work all night long that too in a call centre... OMG... I'm kinda feeling weird...
There are too many things we duplicate in our life. Every day we get up at the same time, eat same breakfast, walk on the same street. We take the same buses or trains, arrive at office at the same time, do almost same works say 'hello' to the same people. I know that we do have different and attractive things to do. But do you feel tired of doing such same things? Do you think they are redundant and a waste of time? And what's your everyday-must-do-work?
I used to travel by Electric Train to my office @ Nungambakkam at 9.45 in the Night and 7.00 in the Morning and I meet same persons in the train. Its been a practice now for about 4 months and I don't even receive a smile from them or even a kind of acknowledgment. They will be so busy in their work reading newspapers, mugging up books for their class tests, listening iPods etc... I feel completely weird and I'll be staring @ them as if I'm gonna kidnap.
My job in my office is to receive calls from the US customers regarding the product which our company promotes. I used to get a lot of phone calls and I'' sick of saying "Thank you for calling ----------, How may I help you..?". Call centers have a love/hate relationship with workers everywhere. People either love them, or they hate them; there is really no middle ground. Call centers have many pros, the best of which is that they can prove to be real cash cows. But call centers also have a dark side, the side that the customers would never guess by the cheerful, robotic voices on the other end of the line.
The psychology of an inbound call center customer is completely different from that of the face-to-face customer. The reason is simple. Over the phone, you are not really a person, you are just a voice. Therefore, customers feel more free to lash out in anger, curse, and make threats. When customer's can see your face, they are more prone to treat you like a human being.
I pray to god that I should get a decent job without getting harassment from the customers. May be I had to follow the same kind of routine like getting up early, having breakfast, rushing to catch Train, looking at the passengers in a weird manner, say hello to the same person in the office, but I'll be relieved from working in Nights and from receiving calls from the other end of the world.

Starting the New Year Right
There are some days when I just don’t feel like getting out of bed. Maybe I didn’t sleep well the night before or there is something I dread doing ahead of me. For whatever reason, whenever I started my day with fear and worry, the rest of the day was doomed to plod along in a sluggish, miserable manner.
The attitude with which we choose to begin our day determines the type of weather we’ll spend the rest of the day in. We can either choose a ray of bright sunshine or a raindrop from a storm cloud. We all make that choice every day. Do we start with dread and fear or optimism and hope?
When we begin our day with dread and fear, we naturally invite negativity and a sense of emptiness into our lives. Minor inconveniences are blown into catastrophes, simple pleasures bring us no joy, and we inevitably focus on the negative in people and situations. As the day draws to a close, we wonder how we could have made it through yet another day like this.
But we could endeavor to start each day with an unburdened mind and heart. We could look to our day with enthusiasm and hope, and consciously decide to seek out the good in people and situations. We could choose to be grateful for the seemingly common and simple, and appreciate the little blessings each day brings.
Now, some might argue that that isn’t reality – that the world isn’t that wonderful a place. Well, isn’t it true that how things look depends on the lenses through which we choose to see them? We make our own reality in how we choose to perceive the world around us.
This doesn’t mean that as long as we start our days with hope and optimism that things will magically go the way we want them to. Our attitude towards the world doesn’t change the world. It simply helps us better manage changes in the world. Dread and fear stokes the flame of negativity and self-destruction. When we are knocked down, they make it harder for us to get up. Optimism and hope get us on our feet again.
As Mary Pickford once said, “If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.”

New Year Celebration
It was December 31, 2009.
Since I am working in the call centre industry, I usually have night shifts. I finished the shift in the morning on Dec 31 and started myself to Ayyapanthangal where some of my friends have taken room in that place. I decided to celebrate the New Year in their room.
I got a train from Nungambakkam and reached Guindy and then I took a bus to Ayyapanthangal. I reached their place by 9.30 AM in the morning. I was not able to sleep due to the anticipation of the new year celebration. We watched the movie "PAA" starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachan in the Laptop. Then we do not know what to do in the noon time. So we decided to go to the recently released movie "AVATAR". And also my friends have decided to celebrate the new year in Purasawalkam with their colleagues and I could join them. We have to reach there by 6 PM.
We found it very confusing to decide to which theatre we could view the movie whether in Purasawalkam "MOTCHAM" thatre or any nearby theatre. Atlast we decided to go to the nearby "S S R PANKAGAM" theatre in Vadapalani. The show time was from 3.30 to 6.30. The movie was great and we had a serious discussion about the movie on or way to Purasawalkam. We reached the place only by 8.30 PM since there was a huge traffic in the roads due to the new year celebration. Everyone was waiting for us with both the hot and cold drink.
We started the party by 9 PM itself and our party continued till 4 AM in the morning. In the middle we also cut the cake to celebrate the new year and no was able to eat he cake since it was on our faces. Some of my friends faces beecame pale red due to the chocolate flavor of the cake. Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh... That was one of the great time in my life. I can't even forget this day...
Lots of Boozing...
Lots of Facial (ie with the cake)...
Lots of Fun...
Lots of Smiles (mostly bursting laughter lol)...
Lots of enjoyment...
Hope this new year will be a great year for me...
I am sure it will bring me both Joy and Happiness...
